New York, NY – The New York-based Analogue Transit will be releasing their debut album, ATR . The independently written, arranged, and produced album is also the inaugural release of the Gadfly Productions imprint.
For Analogue Transit who, as the name suggests, represent the transition of sound from analog to digital, ATRmarks the realization of a concept several years in its formation. The album strongly showcases the individual talents of band members Kwaku Aning and Jeff Schreiner who, after five years of working together on various projects, stripped down their personnel and their approach and produced an album of cunning syncretism. ATRis a marriage in which neither partner eclipses the other; both the art of the process and the beauty of the end product are equally present here.
Standout among the tracks included on the album are lead single “Breathe,” a ballad as moving in the album’s fully fleshed-out version as it is in the more intimately acoustic rendition of the band’s live performances, and “Great Jones,” where Jeff’s singularly unique approach to production and Kwaku’s powerful vocal performance are evident from the moment the beat drops.
The album progression remains strong from start to finish, with the opening intro giving audiences a clear understanding of the listening experience that awaits them. Traditional handclaps are paired with an updated approach to the boom-bap programming on the heavily electronic “1983.” Lyrically, “Dream in Spaces” is a poignant look at self-imposed limitations, a theme the music explores with a stop-and-start syncopation layered under the soaring narration of an anonymous electronic voice.
ATRwill be released in four separate installments containing three tracks per installment on June 15 and continuing 6/29, 7,13 and 7/27.These four installments will be availablefor digital purchase only. The physical and digital release of the entire album will be on 8/10.

Although we’ve been quiet we have not been idle. I recently got married and have been enjoying time with my new wife. Additionally Jeff and I have been working on new songs and it has been a crazy experience. I can’t really go into the details but it has affirmed that Jeff and I are lucky to play music together and extremely grateful to all of you that support us. We are planning some bigger tours for this spring and we cannot wait to start gigging again. Until then, stay tuned for tour updates and happy holidays!!
It’s that time of year again. Time to assess all that we’ve got and be thankful for it all. And this year, Analogue Transit’s got loads to be thankful for. At the top of that list are all of you who have supported ATR through our inaugural year. For everyone who came to a show, bought the album, or just passed on the good word to a friend of yours, we are truly thankful.
And we’d like to give you a little something in return:

If it’s eye candy you’re into, we’d like to direct your attention to a lovely gallery put together by photographer Sixten Abbot who attended the ATR show this past Friday night at The Blackstone in Pawtucket, RI. He came out to see another band, but liked what he heard. Check out his awesome work here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/amateur6/
And for a more interactive experience there’s this amazing footage from the Gallatone Records Artist Showcase this past Saturday at Webster Hall’s The Studio, shot by our good friend Warren.
The boys of ATR gear up for a busy week ahead. Now that papers have been written and projects have been handed in (Kwaku), diplomas have been earned (Jeff’s brother), and the west coast has been properly attended (Jeff), it’s time to get back into the swing of things.
This week finds ATR storming castles both at home and abroad. On Friday, they return to Pawtucket, RI for a repeat performance at the Blackstone Club, where they’ll be playing with local favorites Route 44. Anyone in the area should definitely come out to say hi to the guys and hear a great set of music.
Saturday, Nov. 21st, ATR takes part in the Gallatone Records Showcase at The Studio @ Webster Hall. If you’ll remember, “1983″ was selected for the NYU-based label’s 2009 compilation, and you’ll be able to hear that and other tracks off the band’s debut album “Gearheart.” Buy tickets here.
