    Picks, Pics, & Flicks

    Nov 24th, 2009 by Malice

It’s that time of year again.  Time to assess all that we’ve got and be thankful for it all.  And this year, Analogue Transit’s got loads to be thankful for.  At the top of that list are all of you who have supported ATR through our inaugural year.  For everyone who came to a show, bought the album, or just passed on the good word to a friend of yours, we are truly thankful.

And we’d like to give you a little something in return:

If you’re a Zune user, good news!  Zune is running a special holiday promotion and the song “Home” will be featured as a “Free Song of the Day” all this week.  So log on with your device, and load up on the free stuff!

If it’s eye candy you’re into, we’d like to direct your attention to a lovely gallery put together by photographer Sixten Abbot who attended the ATR show this past Friday night at The Blackstone in Pawtucket, RI.  He came out to see another band, but liked what he heard.  Check out his awesome work here:  http://www.flickr.com/photos/amateur6/

And for a more interactive experience there’s this amazing footage from the Gallatone Records Artist Showcase this past Saturday at Webster Hall’s The Studio, shot by our good friend Warren.

    Drummer Found!

    Apr 30th, 2009 by kwaku

Several weeks ago we reported that the search was underway for a drummer to join the live show entourage of ATR.  Now, after hours of hi hats, bass kicks, and furballs (yes, furballs!), we’re here to let you know that the search is over.  The sweat, the tears, the heartache… it is kaputt. And while we know we’ll spend the rest of our lives making amends to Pedro the Cat, we’re thrilled to welcome Sam Merrick to the ATR family.

    Who is this percussive phenom?

Behind the drum kit, hailing from Brandon, Vermont and weighing in with over 10 years of performance and recording experience, is the stick-wielding virtuoso Sam Merrick, who started playing drums at the tender age of 9. His auspicious beginnings included years playing in various district and All-state Jazz ensembles.  While attending Boston University, Sam became heavily involved in the Boston music scene, playing with a wide range of artist/bands such as The High Rise, Soulfege, The Genetics, and Love in Stockholm which cover musical stylings of Jazz to Reggae and Hip-hop to funk.   In the Fall of 2008, Sam moved to Brooklyn, NY to further persue his musical endeavours. He also performs with rockabilly outfit That Handsome Devil, and singer-songerwriters Jon Sandler and Argyle Johansen.

But don’t just take our word for it…

And meet the newest member at one of our upcoming gigs

    “1983″ Selected for Upcoming Compilation

    Feb 25th, 2009 by bruzed

“1983″,  a track from Analogue Transit’s recently released album Gearheart, has been selected for inclusion on the 2009 collection of New York City artists released by Gallatone Records, the student-run record label of New York University. The track was chosen from more than 300 entries for the annual release, which showcases university and area artists.

The record label functions as a self-sustaining, non-profit organization, which gives students the opportunity to run a record label, express their creative voices, and share their musical interests. The 2009 compilation featuring “1983″ is the sixth release from the record label.
